The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA) was chartered in 1888. It is the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the United States, providing care and basic medical services for approximately 11,000 homeless and companion animals each year. The mission of the LA/SPCA is to advocate for and protect the animal community through high quality service, compassion, strong leadership and innovative programs.
