Job description: The Senior Business Analyst, under minimal supervision, designs and specifies information systems and/or process solutions to address business needs. This position will work with the business end users, project- and technology management and their staff, to identify, define, interpret, and clarify the scope of problems and issues in terms of business- and systems requirements and processes. This position is responsible for understanding and analyzing the business problems, conceptualizing the solutions and processes to solve business problems, gathering business requirements and translating them into functional and/or non-functional requirements. The senior business analyst may work on multiple projects at a time. Accountabilities: • Responsible for owning the business requirements-gathering processes and deliverables, and recommending future state processes and solutions. • Compile functional and non-functional specifications into formal Requirements Specification document based on business requirements - with consideration to use cases, data model, management, process, business rules, control, ownership and measurement of each function or task. Walk all project stakeholders through requirements, and obtain their sign-off to base-line requirements. • Understand, analyze and document customer business processes and workflows, perform gap analysis to identify areas for improvements and provide customers with reports and updates on findings. • Document customer’s business requirements and develop functional specifications. • Gather all requirements from business representatives that will be used to formulate business requirements specifications and translate those specifications into application functionality; decide when to advocate for a solution and when to compromise on a mutually acceptable solution. • Manage changes to the base-lined requirements through change control process. Update requirements artifacts based on accepted changes, and clearly communicate changes to IT and QA teams. • Lead analysis of current processes and procedures, and the development of recommendations for process improvements. • Collaborate with Business Champion, Project Manager and IT Manager to elaborate on Business Case and Project Definition by supplying project vision and scope. Support project manager in managing expectations of project stakeholders. • Write test plans and test cases for new feeds and functionality, taking into account all inputs and outputs. Administer and co-ordinate user acceptance testing, conduct system- and process walkthroughs and demos, and obtain final system acceptance sign-off with the help of project manager. • Compile and enhance business procedures and document new process flows. • Ensure adherence to the defined Project Management process. • Assist business users in the development of content and other materials (training materials, user guides). Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in a business-related discipline is required; MBA is strongly preferred • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. • An understanding of the governmental/municipal organizations would be an advantage. • Should have basic understanding of various technologies and their components • A minimum of 5 years of business analysis experience with a Media company. Should be able to communicate business processes and requirements using various models. E.g. Process models, Data flow diagrams, context diagrams etc. • Experience within a structured SDLC and project management environment required • Must be motivated, able to work in a team environment, and embody a "whatever it takes to get the job done" attitude. • Highly proficient in Excel, Visio, Word, MS Project. Skills in usage of any defect management tool (e.g. HP/Mercury QC, Test Director) and MS Sharepoint would be an added advantage.
