Mission

Kinship Center’s mission is to be a haven of opportunity for seniors in the community to continue living independent, healthy, and meaningful lives.

History

Kinship Center has served thousands of seniors since its founding over 40 years ago. By providing critical resources and opportunities, the organization inspires seniors to remain active participants in the community and in their own lives.

In 1977, Kinship Center began as a central location for older adults in search of daily activities to rebuild social connections and access resources. On a daily basis, Kinship helps seniors meet their challenges with carefully developed programs, individualized attention, and a community of caring. Thanks to the savvy financial decisions of leadership over the years, Kinship has consistently been one of the few centers in the city providing critical transportation services.

Program Description

To improve the quality of life of seniors living in the community, Kinship Center provides health and wellness programs, case management, critical transportation, and volunteer opportunities for adults aged 60 and older in the City of New Orleans. Monday through Friday, people who may otherwise be trapped at home watching television are instead given high quality, individualized attention in a group setting geared toward providing lifelong learning and leadership opportunities. Activities at the Center include computer class, Spanish class, art, drama club, music appreciation, and daily exercise. We are also able to provide daily transportation to and from Kinship with our 15 passenger van.
