Creative Alliance of New Orleans
Creative Alliance of New Orleans is accepting summer interns for two exciting projects! These projects will be especially relevant and interesting to University students currently enrolled in Arts Administration, Museum Studies, Non-Profit Administration, Fine Arts or Public Relations/Communitcations programs, and who have a particular interest in gaining experience in the cultural non-profit sector of New Orleans. In order to maximize your experience and positive impact with our organization, interns must be available for at least 24hrs per week. We are willing to accept resumes and a letter of interest from individuals or from collaborative teams of two, at which time we will meet with you for an interview. Resumes and Letters of Interest are due on Monday, May 24th. Send your materials to our Program Director, Katherine Bray: bray@cano-la.org. While we cannot offer pay for your valued work with us, we are happy to work with your university in helping you acquire class credit for your work, and can guarantee that you will leave with substantial experience to add to your resume and a rolodex full of new and valuable relationships. There are also special projects that do have funding associated with them and we try to give our interns some remuneration from them when possible. MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZER One of the ways CANO carries out our mission of promoting creative producers working in New Orleans is through our Membership Program. This is a vital function of our organization, including the promotion of network-building, collaboration, education, and engagement of new supporters of the creative sector. Additionally, dues collected from our membership program comprise a substantial portion of our general operating budget. We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and initiative-taking individual to fill an internship position in managing our Membership Program. The job description includes, but is not limited to the following tasks: * developing and carrying out creative ways to increase purchase of CANO memberships by students, artists, individuals, small businesses, other organizations, and corporations * recruiting donations for inclusion in our package of membership rewards * creating, building, and promoting CANO's directory of local creative producers * managing membership contact databases * distributing rewards to members * contributing to CANO's monthly newsletter with news about membership-related promotions and special events INDUSTRY EXPO ORGANIZER CANO is planning a Creative Industry Expo for this coming Fall of 2010, meant to celebrate the vast variety of quality design, visual, performing design and media arts, music, and other creative products being made and sold here in New Orleans. Along with the opportunity to showcase their products to the general public in a fun and exciting event format, creative producers will have the special opportunity to connect with national critics, press publications, renowned industry professionals, and local and national buyers and vendors. We are seeking a responsible, action-oriented, organized and enthusiastic individual to assist in all aspects of producing this event, including but not limited to: * applying creative energy to developing the concept for this event, making it unique, fun, attractive, and above all, effective at promoting the earning power of New Orleans's creative producers * promoting a "call for submissions" and vetting incoming applications through a jury process * assisting CANO's event committee with soliciting donations, sponsorships, partners, and with general fundraising and production-related tasks * engaging local and national buyers, critics and press, industry professionals, and other "stars" to work with us in promoting our local creative talent * promoting ticket sales to the event * assisting with the set-up, logistics, and production of the event itself
