Partnering to Promote Health and Wellness Project

Independent documentary production company is currently developing a project for national distribution. The film seeks to illuminate innovations in the U.S. health care system that are both improving patient outcomes while also lowering cost. Below is a brief description of the scope of the film: America’s healthcare systems too often emphasize care that is focused on illness and disease rather than care that is focused on prevention and wellness which could potentially reduce the overall burden of chronic disease. In recent years, many professionals in the medical community have begun to challenge that model, asking questions that go to the heart of medicine’s mission to promote wellness, prevent disease, and help people live long, productive lives: What should care look like? What do we want from our health-care system? How can care be improved? In places all over America, health-care providers are offering innovative practices which are often overlooked by both policy makers and many in the medical community itself. Practicing medicine in multidisciplinary patient-centered teams, that involve doctors, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, health coaches with the patient at the core is one exciting new model for delivering health-care that deserves a closer look." In our documentary, we do not want to get into the debate about who should pay for health care - government or the marketplace or some mixture. We want to explore value, not cost. We plan to look at innovative ways of providing better health care more cheaply.
