An affiliate chapter of the National Urban League, the Urban League of Louisiana was founded as a non-profit, nonpartisan, community-based organization in New Orleans in 1938. Since its inception, the Urban League has existed to enable and empower African Americans and other disadvantaged persons to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. At our core, the ULLA is focused in the programmatic areas of education and youth empowerment, economic and workforce development and social justice and policy development to implement our strategic mission.
