In a sentence: We help historically white led companies hire & keep c-level talent | as seen in Fast Company, Essence, & Stanford Social Innovation Review.
Background: Offor - the talent broker company - helps CEOs and boards hire and keep top c-suite talent in companies ranging from edtech to philanthropy. Our work has been featured in Fast Company, Essence, O Magazine, and the Stanford Innovation Review.
CEO Ify Walker founded Offor ten years ago to connect top C-suite talent with organizations willing to be transparent about their culture and what it takes to succeed. Our vision is to change the face of c-level leadership at top education, tech, and mission-driven companies so that Black and Brown children see their faces represented on the covers of national business publications and media sites, as the rule and not the exception. Our clients are leaders in ed-tech, global consulting, education, and journalism, including /dev/color, KIPP, Beyond 12, FSG, and Chalkbeat.
Ify is a daughter of Wisconsin and the proud 1st child of Nigerian immigrants who taught her the rules so that she could break them. She taught middle school English to students in Philly who taught her bravery. She went to law school to get some armor, so she could build something worthy of her parents' sacrifice and her students' brilliance. She built Offor so that when her children ask her what she did during this time in America, she can give them an answer that she is proud of.
Our culture: Excellent writers. Pattern spotters. Relationship builders. Firstborn and last-born children. Moms. People who can self manage. Find a way or make one type of people. Learners.
Statement on race, equity, inclusion & belonging: 1/ Offor is a Black woman run firm. See: www.offor.co 2/ We promote from within first. 3/ We publish salaries internally and publicly. 4/ Our most senior leader started as Offor's EA and is now managing a $1M book of business. 5/ We center Black women to lift all women, which is necessary to design equity for all. See the State of Black Women in Corporate America: https://leanin.org/research/state-of-black-women-in-corporate-america. Because of these dire results and because most of the power is still concentrated in the hands of a few, we work with historically white institutions - 90% of whom hire Black, Latinx, or Asian c-level leaders into their organizations through our firm to produce better outcomes for all.
