AmeriCorps Vista Volunteer Neighborhood Stabilization New Orleans, Louisiana Neighborhood Housing Services of New Orleans (NHS) seeks an outstanding individual to provide one year of service through AmeriCorps Vista (Volunteers in Service to America). NHS is a non-profit community development corporation whose mission is to help renters become homeowners, help homeowner repair their homes, and help neighbors work together to create positive community change. The VISTA member will volunteer at NHS in the Community Building Initiative, focusing on improvement and recovery efforts in several New Orleans neighborhoods. The VISTA member will conduct surveys and research on neighborhood and housing property conditions and on the impact of community stabilization programs. Additionally, the VISTA member will help coordinate community stabilization programs through NHS Neighborhood Centers. VISTA Volunteers receive a monthly living allowance and health insurance provided directly by AmeriCorps VISTA. At the end of the term of service, an education award or cash stipend may be awarded. A relocation allowance may be available. This position requires a commitment to serve as a full-time employee for one full year.
