Tulane AmeriCorps VISTA

Tulane University's Center for Public Service (CPS) was established to develop and forge long-term partnerships with the local community and oversee the public service graduation requirement for undergraduate students. The program arranges service-learning and internship experiences for students in a wide variety of community agencies (schools, hospitals, city government, environmental, business, non-governmental agencies) in the city of New Orleans. Each semester approximately 1200 Tulane students complete service projects at local agencies for approximately 2-6 hours a week through service learning courses and internship placements. The goal of this program is to have AmeriCorps VISTA members and Tulane students, faculty, and staff assist community partners with capacity building as the city rebuilds from Hurricane Katrina. Each VISTA member works with one community agency in the metropolitan New Orleans area. Agencies include, but are not limited to, local public schools, non-profit organizations, faith-based organizations, and hospitals. VISTA members help develop capacity at the community partner agencies that was lost after Hurricane Katrina. http://tulane.edu/cps Due to the large volume of applications received, only applicants who are considered for a position will be contacted.
