Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans
Service Description : Volunteers of America of Greater New Orleans has been "touching lives, building community" since the 1890s. Today, we extend a hand up to more than 72,000 children, families, seniors and persons with disabilities each year in 16 south Louisiana parishes. Services include: Mentoring, Adoption, Veterans Housing, Affordable Housing, Mental Health initiatives, Home Repair and much more. A team of five AmeriCorps VISTAs will be recruited to build capacity within five separate departments of the organization. Member Duties : The Marketing VISTA will grow our marketing capacity by focusing on public relations activities that foster greater community awareness of VOAGNO and will increase readership of all social media by focusing on FACEBOOK, TWITTER and BLOG, as well as program success stories on the people we serve. The Volunteer Development VISTA will be responsible for: assessing, developing, expanding and managing internal volunteer opportunities. The Resource Development VISTA will grow our fundraising capacity by administering fundraising events and appeals, such as Reach for the Stars and the Golf Star tournament. The Housing Development VISTA responsibilities include: neighborhood revitalization, community development, grant writing and industry research. The Repairs on Wheels VISTA will assist the Program Manager by coordinating work schedules, organizing daily activities of repair persons, performing client intakes and preparing program reports.
