Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots is the third-oldest thoroughbred race track in the United States, having opened in 1872. In addition to thoroughbred racing, the Fair Grounds also operates a 650-machine slot machine facility adjacent to the racetrack’s grandstands as well as thirteen off-track betting and video poker parlors throughout the Greater New Orleans Area. It is owned by Churchill Downs, Inc., known for its famed Kentucky Derby race, who owns five racetracks, eight casinos, and a variety of other sports and gaming operations throughout the United States.
