Shir Chadash Conservative Congregation is a warm, inclusive, egalitarian synagogue that honors tradition while embracing modernity. We are a kehillah kedosha (sacred community) where all are welcome to join in praying, learning and celebrating together. Collectively, our voices from young to old form a new song (shir chadash) through which each member is inspired and enriched for the enhancement of our congregation, Greater New Orleans, and K'lal Yisrael (the Jewish people).
On July 1, 1999, the Presidents of Tikvat Shalom and Chevra Thilim, the two Conservative synagogues in Greater New Orleans, signed a Document of Consolidation, joining the two synagogues into one. The new synagogue was named Shir Chadash (A New Song), New Orleans' only Conservative Synagogue. We are a vibrant, egalitarian, traditional synagogue, open to all. Shir Chadash is a dynamic place of prayer, learning, caring, and commitment. We strive to be a warm and friendly place, a haimish environment for worship, study, and community.
