THE HISTORY OF TRASHY DIVA

Designer and owner Candice Gwinn had a lifelong love of both sewing and vintage before moving from suburban Atlanta to pursue her dream of opening a shop of her own. In 1996, with bags of second hand clothing, a $5000 college fund, and a dream, Trashy Diva first opened its doors to a tiny retail shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans!

Following a website launch in 1997 and years of dealing exclusively in vintage garments from the 1800s-1960s, Candice sought a better way to fit all the needs of the expanding customer base. So, Trashy Diva the clothing brand first began with the reproduction of two 1930s silk garments in 1999.

We now feature monthly collections in sizes 0 to 24 with inspiration not only from true vintage but also from the thousands of loyal customers! Pieces from that original silk collection and the over 100 subsequent collection are now collected by fans world wide.

Our flagship stores and office headquarters are located in New Orleans’ historic Garden District and famous French Quarter. From Trashy Diva Clothing and Trashy Diva Lingerie, side by side on beautiful Magazine Street, to the two locations (both dress and lingerie) on Royal Street in the French Quarter, we have plenty of New Orleans shopping options!
