Position Description - Comptroller Company Description Jack and Jake’s is a wholesale supplier of local and organic food products in New Orleans and other metropolitan centers throughout southeast Louisiana. Founded in 2009, Jack and Jake’s has developed a network of over 200 local farmers and fishers within 100 miles of New Orleans in order to provide a reliable supply of fresh food products at an affordable price to retail markets, schools, hospitals, restaurants, and underserved neighborhoods in New Orleans. Through its existing food provider partners in the New Orleans region, Jack and Jake’s will be able to provide local, fresh foods to over 100,000 people throughout the New Orleans region. Duties and Responsibilities The comptroller will join Jack and Jake’s start-up management team at operational day one. This person will assist in closing the company’s current equity financing round and maintain primary and ongoing responsibility for setting up and maintaining the company’s financial accounting system, food origin accountability system, and internal controls. Candidates will be responsible for regular book keeping tasks and maintaining payables and receivables ledgers. Candidates will also work closely with the CFO in budgeting and cash flow management. Additionally, the individual selected will be responsible for regular financial reporting to, as well as liaison work with funders and accountants and will work closely with the CEO, COO, and CFO to determine company strategy and secure future financing rounds. Qualifications • Self-starter who is willing to learn rapidly and looking to take on increasing responsibility in a low guidance environment • Passion for start-up culture and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the company succeed • Passion for fresh, local, food • Minimum 2-3 years direct accounting and/or financial management experience • Book keeping and inventory management experience a strong plus • B.A. Required; MACCT, MFIN, M.B.A. or equivalent or higher preferred • Needs strong excel skills, Knowledge in Quickbook or similar system a must • Working knowledge and/or experience in internal control systems highly preferred How to Apply To apply, please forward resume, cover letter, and unofficial copy of most recent academic transcript (if student) or letter of reference (if professional) to jonatkinson58@gmail.com.
