KIND OF WORK: Highly responsible professional work directing the operation of the Equipment Maintenance Division of the City of New Orleans. The Fleet Manager is responsible for technical, supervisory, and strategic management of the Equipment Maintenance Division while leading the operations of a centralized automotive maintenance facility. Work also includes: • Developing strategic plans for vehicle sourcing and disposal, vehicle lifecycle planning, and repair. • Managing the City’s acquisition, utilization, repair, and replacement of vehicles. • Managing external vendor contracts to ensure the City receives the full value of contracts. • Monitoring expenditures throughout the fiscal year to insure strict adherence to budget. • Related duties as required. This classification is considered to be essential in the event of an emergency. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 1) A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university which must be presented within two (2) weeks of application. 2) Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in fleet maintenance management. At least three (3) years of this experience must have been in the direct operation of a fleet or heavy equipment repair facility with a fleet of at least 500 vehicles. KIND OF EXAMINATION: A rating of training and experience, weighted 33% and a structured oral interview, weighted 67%. Credit will only be given for related experience gained within the last ten (10) years. (SEE REVERSE SIDE FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION) This is an original entrance examination.
