New Orleans Ballet Association | NOBA
Over its four decades, the New Orleans Ballet Association | NOBA has proven itself to be flexible, adaptable and, most importantly, fiercely committed to serving the region and the field of dance. NOBA’s dynamic programs have positioned the organization as the largest dance organization in Louisiana and one of very few remaining organizations in the country dedicated solely to the presentation of dance. NOBA’s distinctive, hybrid structure is divided into two programming elements: 1) Main Stage Series: Annually, NOBA presents in depth residencies from some of the most renowned and compelling dance companies in the world, including, for example, a recent NOBA commission of Trey McIntyre Project with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Mark Morris Dance Group, Grupo Corpo, Joffrey Ballet, Noche Flamenca, Ronald K. Brown’s Evidence, and Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. The season is designed to present at the Mahalia Jackson Theater and in partnership with Tulane University and The NOCCA Institute world-class examples of diverse forms of dance (classical ballet to modern dance, folk/ethnic dance, and performance art) while reflecting the racial and ethnic diversity of the Greater New Orleans area, and 2) Education and Outreach Programs: For over 20 years, NOBA’s mission has centered around building its comprehensive, nationally recognized dance programs that educate, train, nurture, and promote life-long learning. NOBA’s community-based programs are tuition-free. In total, NOBA now serves more than 25,000 people each year through over 3,000 performances, classes, workshops, and activities, 95% of which are free.
