RTA is the public transportation provider for the City of New Orleans and the City of Kenner. As the largest public transportation provider in the New Orleans-Metairie, Louisiana Metropolitan Statistical Area, the RTA operates thirty bus routes, four streetcar routes, two ferry routes, and ADA paratransit service. Bus and streetcar service include seven routes with peak-service frequencies of fifteen minutes or better, as well as eleven routes that operate twenty-four hours a day. RTA's service area is relatively dense, covering more than 500,000 people and 230,000 jobs over a land area of about 185 square miles in Orleans, St. Bernard, and Jefferson Parishes.
Mission
The mission of the Regional Transit Authority is to provide safe, dependable, efficient transit services to the residents of and visitors to the greater New Orleans region, through investment in infrastructure and service to expand access to opportunities, to build a more resilient community, and to protect the cultural, social, and economic well being of our community through mobility.
Vision
The Regional Transit Authority will become the region’s preferred mobility provider by building a transportation network focused on equitable service delivery, regional connectivity, and a forward-looking emphasis on the customer experience.
