Project Coordinator: Southeast LA Fisheries Assistance Center About Seedco Financial: Seedco Financial is a national, nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI) with $190 million in assets under management. Working with local partners, Seedco Financial provides affordable financing and technical assistance to small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and anchor commercial projects in low-income and economically distressed communities. Its financing programs are designed to fill critical capital and capacity gaps within local markets. Seedco Financial is a subsidiary of Seedco, a national community development intermediary that creates opportunities for low- wage workers and their families in economically distressed areas. Position Overview: In 2008, Seedco Financial opened the Southeast Louisiana Fisheries Assistance Center (FAC) in the greater New Orleans region to provide a wide variety of services for rural entrepreneurs in the fisheries industry. The FAC has also been a nexus for disaster relief services on the Gulf Coast, and continues to serve that function during the BP oil spill disaster. The FAC Project Coordinator will be involved in implementing Seedco Financial’s response to the disaster by leading operations at the FAC and working directly with clients and program partners. Responsibilities: • Oversee daily operations at the Fisheries Assistance Center (FAC); • Act as a liaison between Seedco Financial and program partners co-located at the FAC; • Keep up-to-date on the state of the oil spill recovery, and details of programs serving commercial fishermen; • Provide direct assistance to clients filing for BP claims or other programs as necessary; • Aggregate data and statistics for internal monitoring and external reporting; • Communicating Seedco Financial’s fisheries-related services and successes to external visitors; • Contributing to new program design and funding proposals as required. Qualifications: • Minimum of 2 years experience in project management or equivalent activity. • BA/BS degree in management or the social sciences. Master’s degree a plus; • Understanding of community development and the fisheries sector is highly desirable, but not required; • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem solving skills; • Strong Computer Skills including Word and Excel; and • Highly motivated, team player.
