To Whom It May Concern:

The advancement of scholarship is the most important task facing society today. Student-focused and data-driven, I am a Middle School Science Teacher searching to gain experience in developing and implementing a diverse science-based curriculum, with the mindset of improving student academic performance in high-need schools that are located in low-income communities. I am not only highly-skilled at motivating students through positive encouragement and reinforcement of concepts through interactive classroom instruction and observation, but also possess leadership qualities, a strong ability to identify, address and resolve student issues, and outstanding technical proficiency. As per my education and experience, I specialize in general science concepts, chemistry, and biology to diverse populations. As a past experience, I have tutored students two or more grade levels below their current grade at Title I schools in subjects such as Science, English, and Reading. When pursuing my undergraduate degree, I tutored a diverse population of students on campus at The University of Southern Mississippi in subjects such as Biology and English; I also assisted students with resume building and writing skills. At my local soup kitchen, I volunteered to prepare and serve lunches every Wednesday to low-income citizens, the sick and shut-in, and homeless.

Academically, I have managed and instructed middle school classes such as: 5th grade Life Science, 6th grade Physical Science, 7th grade Life Science, and 8th grade Earth Science. I have also managed and instructed high school courses such as: Chemistry, Physical Science, and Biology II. As teacher-of-record, I design and implement science lessons according to Louisiana Student Standards, alongside instructional techniques that maximize rigor and management. Inquiry-based experiments, tiered small-group instruction, and interactive technology are always prominent in my classroom. Every day, each science lesson has technology and reading comprehension incorporated. I have also instructed science intervention classes, highlighting specific tested standards, test taking skills, and reading comprehension. Through a motivating and positive classroom environment, academic focus and engagement are both strongly stressed - encouraging the improvement of academic performance.

Currently, I am enrolled in the iTeach Louisiana alternative-teaching program, aiming towards a Practitioner's License (PL2). I have also successfully passed the Praxis II (153) for Middle School Science. As extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, writing, and playing the piano. By improving student performance in the classroom, I believe that every student will gain the determination, motivation, and responsibility necessary to succeed both academically and spiritually. I am very interested in meeting with you to discuss how I am a great addition to both your students and teaching staff family.
