I am adaptable and able to work in any work environment, however I thrive in one that allows creativity and project based work. A supportive community is important to me, as it allows me to fully support my students. I believe in teaching with a balance of compassion and discipline, treating all students with a sense of respect and equality.

There are major equity gaps between education based on race and socio-economic status. I would like help in narrowing this gap. I understand that I was privileged in my education. I went to a private high school and university, where teachers predominately stay. Most of my teachers had been working at these schools for decades. They were happy to be there. They were paid well compared to what teachers may make in less privileged schools and seldom left for what they considered to be "easier and better paying jobs." I understand that students in lower socio-economic schools are often abandoned by teachers. That teachers do often leave to find an "easier and better paying" job. That students don't often receive the education they deserve, because there is such a high rate of inexperienced teachers who are just awaiting their next gig. That this cycle causes students to feel under appreciated and are therefore less likely to put in the effort. When this occurs teachers more often then not, become unsatisfied as well. I would not be a teacher that is here just to complete a year and move on. I am committed to my students. I am here to love them and learn with them. I want to give them the attention and education that they deserve, so that opportunities can await them outside of the classroom. The equity gap creates a huge lack of opportunity between schools and their students. As my classroom's teacher, I am here for the long haul. I am here through the challenges and to watch them grow. I'm here to watch myself grow with them through these challenges. I am committed to being their teacher.
