2018 New Orleans Film Festival Venue Manager


New Orleans Film Festival Venue Managers act as the leader of each venue in the NOFF campus. The venue manager implements NOFF procedures to oversee all front of house operations including run of show, volunteer training and supervision, screening management, film intros and post-screening Q+As. The venue manager serves as site host to audiences, filmmakers, special guests, VIPS, and high-level donors. The venue manager ensures screenings start on time, technical difficulties are addressed, and provides stellar customer service in a hectic, festival environment.


  • View films to be screened in venue prior to festival, prepare questions for filmmakers

  • Oversee, train, and manage venue volunteers

  • Manage venue set-up and screening

  • Coordinate between projectionists and filmmakers prior to showtime

  • Manage ticket lines and keep venue space orderly

  • Oversee run-of-show and ensures timely turnover between screenings

  • Intro films and run Q&A with filmmakers

  • Responsible for performing the dispersal and collection of  audience award ballots for  competition program

  • Track filmmakers and special guests’ appearances and make sure they are hosted accordingly

  • Oversee VIPs, including setting up and releasing reserved seating for high-level donors

  • Act as on-site point person for communication with venue management, NOFF staff, filmmakers, audiences, volunteers, and VIPs

  • Maintain knowledge of NOFS membership and the NOFF program guide

  • Understand safety and emergency procedures

  • Problem-solve as issues arise


  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred; preference to film majors

  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of film

  • Excellent public speaker

  • Festival or event management experience preferred

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Motivated, self-starter with ability to work evenings and weekends

  • Must work calmly under high-pressure situations and in hectic environments

  • Professional and personable demeanor with excellent customer service skills

SUPERVISION: Venue managers report directly to the Operations Coordinator and work closely with the Operations and Programming teams.

TIME REQUIREMENTS: Full-time during NOFF (October 17-25) with mandatory pre-festival training and pre-festival viewing of all films to be screened in the venue.
