Project Manager

Reports to: Director of Project Management

Job Description:

The Project Manager, under general direction, is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and is the contact for those projects.  The Project Manager takes projects from original concept through to final implementation and is responsible for interfacing with all those affected by the project including internal departments, product owners, stakeholders, and partners.  The Project Manager is responsible for developing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports.  The Project Manager conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis. The Project Manager may also provide technical and analytical guidance to the project team and recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.  The Project Manager’s ultimate goal is to ensure that all projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and plan the project by establishing its format, direction, and baselines that allow for variance measurements and change control
  • Create project schedules that accurately shows resource allocation, key milestones and project completion dates
  • Track project deliverables, create clear measures to be used to evaluate the project at its completion, and assess results
  • Establish a risk assessment and mitigation plan
  • Ensure that goals are achieved, targets are met, and the project is delivered on time and within budget
  • Create an environment conducive to delivering new products in the most cost-effective manner
  • Manage uncertainty, rapid change, ambiguity and surprises
  • Facilitate client relationships through formal reporting that compliments a respected and productive relationship
  • Drive the project by leading by example and motivating all concerned through project completion and provide direction and support to project team
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implement, manage and track change requests and other interventions to achieve project goals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, computer or management information systems, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience (preferred in IT industry)
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Understanding of Agile and waterfall software/business development processes
  • Knowledge of Web development and experience with E-commerce web sites
  • Knowledge of the online travel industry preferred
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, MS Project or similar project management tool, JIRA or similar tool
  • Experience developing Project Plans, Budget Projections, Burn Down/Up Charts, Project Proposals, Charters and Executive Summaries
