Position Overview

Seeking a Senior Ab Initio Practitioner to perform in a highly complex development and support environment. Responsible for, analyzing, designing, developing, enhancing and supporting analytics projects and solutions. Apply advanced design and performance tuning skills and to gather user requirements and transform requirements into leading edge solutions. Supports all phases of the design life cycle including analysis, design, development, testing and ongoing support. Contributes considerable business and technical knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understands big data technologies in order to provide part or all of a detailed technical design which meets customer requirements.
  • Provide high quality technology solutions that address business needs by developing applications within emerging and mature technology environments.
  • Provides technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment. Provides advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined segments.
  • Provides technical leadership on specific integration activities that are part of an engagement.
  • Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts and team members to analyze/prioritize business requirements and outline the proposed IT solution.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to the design recommendations; incorporate security requirements into design; and provide input to information/data flow.
  • Read and understand business requirements, write functional requirements, develop detailed technical designs, and build / unit / system test application code.
  • Responsible for implementing part or all of the agreed technical solution to the client
  • Support post implementation activities by debugging, fixing, and participating in maintenance releases as prescribed by management
  • Contributes to knowledge repositories and communities.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study.

Knowledge and Skills

  1. 10+ years of hands-on experience with Ab Initio
  2. Experience with Ab Initio Data Profiler required
  3. Experience with MetaHub (or experience with other Metadata systems)
  4. Experience with Business Rules Environment (BRE)
  5. Experience with Data Integration on Hadoop
  6. Solid understanding of Data Warehousing
  7. Solid understanding of Data Modeling processes and tools
  8. Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Perl.
  9. Knowledge of ETL tools such as Informatica
  10. Knowledge of data visualizations tools such as Tableau or Qlikview a plus
  11. Strong understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and multi-threaded program design
  12. Strong knowledge of algorithms, collection framework and java concurrency to build high performance engine to handle large amount of data
  13. Experience with development, deployment, and support of distributed and data warehouse applications
  14. Fluent in written and spoken English
  15. Strong working knowledge of at least one DBMS technology
  16. Experienced with Agile development methodology
  17. Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and work ethic
  18. Exceptional technical skills and problem solving skills.
  19. Knowledgeable of cloud based solutions
  20. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  21. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  22. 5+ years’ full development lifecycle experience.
  23. Strong desire to learn new technologies and applications along with the ability to adapt to very challenging environments.
  24. Preferred – Industry recognized technical certifications.
