The St. Bernard Project (SBP) is a nonprofit disaster rebuilding organization serving residents in St. Bernard and Orleans parishes who still have not been able to return home after Hurricane Katrina. Veterans Corps seeks to enlist veterans in meaningful service that brings American families back home, while also helping to create a supportive community for veterans. Site Maintenance & Safety Coordinator
A key position within the organization that is more than just a general office worker – though much of the work will be in an office. The Site Maintenance & Safety Coordinator must understand processes that are complex at times. In doing this, they seamlessly integrate the different pieces of the construction office. The Site Maintenance & Safety Coordinator maintains all front office operations, as well as tracks data on houses and ensures that necessary permits and inspections are obtained to allow for a continuous flow of work.
Responsibilities:
Ensuring that work is being completed at the proper pace and schedule.
Maintaining a clean, safe and organized work area.
Maintain a professional and positive attitude to ensure that St Bernard Project is represented in a professional and positive light to external agencies.
Coordinate with vendors, government offices and internal work crews to facilitate house construction.
Understand processes such as file management and inspection procedures.
Assist in both procedural and data analyses aimed to support the mission of constant improvement.
Perform additional tasks as needed to keep construction operations moving as smoothly and efficiently as is possible.
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills and ability to develop relationships
Experience with public speaking
Versatility, patience, and a genuine desire to ask questions and understand the various forces and processes of a construction office
Flexibility to learn new skills and improve current systems
Strong organizational skills and ability to perform tasks effectively
Some accounting, data tracking and Microsoft office capabilities
Ability to take initiative and be self-motivated
Positive attitude
Strong passion for the work of the St Bernard Project
Requirements:
Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Successful work history.
Valid State Driver’s License/Valid Social Security Number/Card or Passport
Be able to pass a Criminal Background Check
Possess verifiable references
