Neighborhoods Partnership Network (NPN) is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans, Louisiana, with a mission to improve the quality of life by engaging New Orleanians in neighborhood revitalization and civic process. One of three key programmatic areas and the foundation of our work is the Neighborhood Liaison program that enables NPN to maintain a continuous pulse on the work of New Orleans' diverse neighborhood associations, non-profits, and businesses to ensure the most effective delivery of NPN's resources and relationships.
NPN seeks a dedicated and outgoing person to fill the position of Neighborhood Liaison in a two-person team. The Neighborhood Liaison attends the meetings of member and non-member organizations as designated by the NPN strategic framework, connects members to resources within the NPN network, works to identify collaborative opportunities among member organizations, and informs the direction of NPN's Capacity College and Policy/Advocacy programs based on member feedback, interests, and needs. An ideal candidate will be able to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines, communicate the programs of NPN effectively, and manage existing relationships and forge new relationships with ease. Lastly, must have a passion for social justice! The Neighborhood Liaison reports directly to the Director of Programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Develops a comprehensive understanding of the social, environmental, and economic development needs in an assigned geographic and/or program area of the city of New Orleans.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with NPN members, community groups, partner organizations, and the City Neighborhood Engagement Office.
• Meets with neighborhood residents, leaders, and community groups to identify needs and available resources in member and non-member organizations.
• Develops and implements a variety of promotions, outreach, and education efforts based on NPN programs, planned activities, and campaigns.
• Plans, coordinates, manages, and participates in citizen and organization outreach programs.
• Plans and coordinates Community Programs based on NPN's 4-part strategic framework.
• Prepares and maintains system records and files for all members.
• Communicates NPN's vision, strategies, plans, programs, and service boundaries continuously to build local awareness of NPN; develops new promotional materials when necessary.
• Supports the efforts of the communities to develop ideas and proposals for NPN programs, services, and funding.
• Provides input to the development and implementation of NPN policy, programs, and initiatives based on community needs/partnerships.
• Provides regular and formal feedback to appropriate NPN directors on how NPN is being received in the area and on business and service delivery issues that are inherent in its operations.
Assists in planning, promoting, and administering outreach programs and services designed to maintain the quality of life in city neighborhoods, including providing information on forming community associations, setting goals and objectives, and utilizing city agencies and community organizations
• Write, draft, and complete reports and/or documents.
Education/Experience:
College degree required
Excellent facilitation, presentation, written and oral communications skills
2-4 years experience in community organizing/community development
Ability to travel extensively throughout the area (i.e., reliable car transportation)
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
