Organizational Overview
St. Bernard Project (SBP) is a non-profit organization that creates housing opportunities so that Hurricane Katrina survivors can return to their homes and communities. St Bernard Project seeks individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences who have what it takes to develop innovative solutions that bring families back home in a community still struggling to recover years after Hurricane Katrina hit. While there is no “ideal” St Bernard Project team member, we believe the following traits are common amongst our members – problem solving, strong leadership, drive, flexibility, and positivity.

AmeriCorps members serve in virtually all facets of SBP’s operations. We currently have the following openings within the Development Department of our Fall 2011 AmeriCorps class:

Grassroots Coordinator
Grassroots Coordinators develop relationships with the diverse array of volunteers and community stakeholders interacting with SBP daily. They handle all logistics of engaging an individual or group in SBP’s mission and create opportunities for them to become advocates for SBP both in the short and long term. Grassroots Coordinators may specialize in specific area based upon their skill sets.

To Apply:
St Bernard Project uses a three stage interview process:

1) Receipt of application materials (AmeriCorps application, Cover letter, Resume)
2) First round interview
3) Second round interview

Through this three part process, we strive to identify your strengths and areas of best fit within SBP. We also aim to give you a good sense of what it means to be a member of the SBP team so that you can reflect upon whether you are up to the challenge of serving with SBP.

To begin this process, you will need to fill out an application on out AmeriCorps Portal at https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?fromSearch=true&id=34651 and submit a tailored resume and cover letter to joinsbp@stbernardproject.org that clearly identifies why you are interested in serving with St Bernard Project , your relevant skills and experience and the position(s) that you are applying for. Upon receipt of these materials, you will be notified as to whether or not you will be invited for a first round interview within 1 week.
