Laitram Machinery, Inc. has an opening for a Drafter/Designer in the Engineering Department to assist engineers as needed with projects. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: creating drawings and solid models for new product design and development, drawing changes for product improvement, maintaining BOM’s for new designs and design changes, plant layout drawings, report generation, etc. This position will also assist design engineers and technicians as larger projects and deadlines require.

Responsibilities:
· Assist engineers with 2D drawings and 3D solid modeling for new equipment, product design changes and plant layouts
· Testing/assembly of prototype equipment and modifications to existing equipment
· Create/maintain bills of materials for the manufacturing of equipment
· Maintain engineering documents using Product Data Management systems
· Assist Engineering Department with large or emergency projects as needed
· Machine component research (bearings, motors, etc.)
· Assist with product prototype fabrication/assembly and testing
· Field work — research problems, monitor tests, installations and startups

Requirements:
· Self-managed, team-player, good communication skills, detail oriented
· 1-3 years CAD experience (2D and 3D/solid modeling)
· Mechanically competent.
· Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
· Fluent in written/spoken English
· High school graduate, good grades
· Ability to travel

Desired Qualifications:
· Experience in seafood or other food-related industry (poultry, vegetables, etc.)
· Experience in a manufacturing environment
· Greater than 3 years CAD experience
· College or vocational/technical degree
· SolidWorks, ProEngineer or equivalent 3D software experience
· Other trade experience (welding, woodworking, electrical, auto mechanic, etc.)
· Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication
