Laitram Machinery, Inc., a division of Laitram, L.L.C. (www.laitram.com), is seeking a Machine Design Engineer. Primary responsibility for this position is the design and development of machinery and equipment used in the seafood processing industry. In addition, the Machine Design Engineer will be part of new product development, enhancements to the existing product line, process improvements and test planning. This position would be based at Laitram Machinery’s headquarters in Harahan, Louisiana, and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities: *Basic project management (develops and maintains project scope, task lists, timelines) *Communicate and interface with team members and internal customers on project status *Create 3-D equipment designs using SolidWorks software *Create fully detailed 2-D fabrication drawings of the designs *Specify and order components *Assemble, troubleshoot, and qualify the designed equipment *Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing test equipment

Requirements: *BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent *6-10 years experience in machinery design and development using CAD and analytic methods. *Proficiency in Solidworks or Pro/E *Experience with Design for Manufacture *Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required *Experience in food processing industry helpful *Self-motivated creative energetic *Enjoys teamwork *Thorough understanding of machine design including: o Mechanisms o Pneumatics o Hydraulics o Control devices o Manufacturing practices
